Worship Ministries
While clergy lead St. Mark’s worship, people of all ages and experiences contribute their service, leadership, talents, time and assistance in preparation for weekend and weekday services.
Acolytes serve at the altar assisting the priests or by participating in the processional traditions of our liturgy. They serve at all parish services and on special occasions such as baptisms, confirmation, weddings and funerals.
Altar Guild members, for each service, prepare the altar for worship and care for the vessels and linens used at the altar.
Our Choir provides music leadership at the 10 a.m. worship service and other holy days. Click here for additional information about our Adult and Teen Choir as well as our Children’s Choir.
Eucharistic Ministers perform the sacred duty of assisting the clergy in celebrating Holy Communion.
Eucharistic Visitors are trained to give the Holy Communion to shut-ins and other people who are unable to attend church services.
Flower Deliverers, following the 10 a.m. service, deliver flowers to hospital patients.
Flower Guild members are responsible for bringing beauty to our worship services through the arranging of altar flowers and greenery.
Greeters warmly welcome visitors and newcomers to St. Mark’s.
Hospitality hosts and shoppers provide a joyful gathering for church members and visitors as they enjoy coffee, juice and food following church services.
Lectors serve the church by reading the day's lessons and leading the Prayers of the People in our worship services.
Nursery Volunteers help our professional staff care for young children on Sundays and at special events.
Oblation Bearers bring the oblations (the bread and wine to be offered for consecration in the Holy Communion) forward to the altar.
Ushers greet people as they arrive, distribute bulletins, assist people to a seat if desired, collect the offering and direct worshippers at the communion rail.
Vergers provide logistical support to the clergy and altar party. Duties include organizing, training and checking-in lectors, chalice bearers, acolytes and other lay members of the service.
If you are interested in serving God at St. Mark’s through one or more of these of these ministries, please contact the church office.
