As John D. MacArthur, the Chicago insurance tycoon, began to distribute land owned by his Foundation in what is now Palm Beach Gardens, he deeded -- for a nominal fee -- five acres to churches of all denominations.  From pasture land filled with grazing cows, St. Mark’s was established in 1962 under the leadership of the Rev. Robert Terhune. As Palm Beach Gardens grew, so did St. Mark’s.

The Rev. Kerry Robb was called to serve as rector in 1973.  And during his 30-year tenure oversaw the establishment of a thriving corporate-size congregation that gave birth to St. Mark’s School in 1979.  Upon Fr. Robb’s retirement in 2004, St. Mark’s called the Rev. Jim Cook in 2007 to serve as the congregation’s second rector.  Since then, St. Mark’s Church and School has redeveloped its entire campus, positioning itself to do God’s work for decades to come.  Today, St. Mark’s shines as a beacon of faith, hope and light as we seek to serve Christ in all people.
