Youth Faith Formation

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church offers many opportunities for our youth to be involved and grow in their relationship with God while having a lot of fun. If you are interested in volunteering for any of our youth ministries, please contact the church office.

Youth Group

St. Mark’s enjoys a vibrant youth ministry in middle and high school.  Called “The Groove,” all students in 6-8 grades are welcome to join our full-time youth director and adult volunteers on Wednesday evenings for a lively session of encouragement, learning and fun.

Our high school youth group meets on Sunday evenings with our full-time youth director, associate rector, and adult volunteers to share a meal, play a game and dig into our faith.  Confirmation class also meets at this time and is open to any student who has started the 9th grade.  Please contact our youth director, Dave Stankiewicz.

Middle School Groove

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

High School Groove

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Mission Trips

Each year the middle and high school youth groups reach out their hands in love on a service-learning mission trip.  These trips are designed to be age-appropriate and vary in location and length.  The middle school usually works with St. Mark’s Hearts of Palm ministry locally to serve our neighbors in need.  High school students typically venture to another state or even country as they put their gifts and efforts to good use.  The beauty of mission trips is found in how it promotes the growth of the youth participants to be loving followers of Christ.

Sunday School

During church we host Sunday School for children aged 3-10.  We have multiple classes led by experienced lay teachers.  Sunday school coincides with the 10 a.m. church service and continues through the offering.  Children return to their parents for communion.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School or VBS is a week-long experience on the church campus in early June.  All children aged 3 to 12 are invited to participate with middle and high school students assisting trained adult volunteers in lessons and activities.  VBS is a popular, not-to-be-missed week of adventure, friendship, and fun where children experience closeness with God.  To learn more, please contact the church office.

Scouting

We have multiple scouting groups for the children which include:

1st – 5th grade

6th grade – 18 years old

Girls and boys 14 – 20 years old

Nursery

St. Mark’s offers professional nursery care on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children under three years old. If you would like to volunteer to help our professional staff on Sundays or during special events, please let us know!

Youth Advisory Committee

Our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of adult leaders who work closely with youth director Dave Stankiewicz. Their job is to help plan and monitor our youth ministry activities. Occasionally they will report how everything is going to the Vestry. If you are interested in joining the Youth Advisory Committee, please contact us.
